Good Afternoon!

There will be NO practice on Wednesday, December 24th.

We are circulating a sign-up sheet at practice for athletes who wish to compete at the meet on January 3, 2015.  Deadline to pay and sign-up is Saturday, December 27 at practice.  The details are as follows:

  • Where: Trine University Indoor Track, Angola, IN
  • When:  January 3, 2015 at Noon
  • Cost:    $10 per athlete

Additional January Meet Available

As you may have noticed on the website calendar, there is an additional meet available in January 2015.  The details are as follows:

  • What: Ft. Wayne Express Holiday Classic

USATF Junior Olympics and Team Picnic Info

Congratulations to all the athletes who competed at the 2014 USATF Junior Oylmpics in Humble, TX!  The Indiana Storm athletes had a great meet and performed well.  The entire meet results can be found at the following link: RESULTS  The team earned 4 medals in total!  You can view the video of all races by visiting the USATF TV found at this link: JUNIOR OLYMPIC VIDEO

Ramiah Elliott (9-10 Girl) earned a 1st place medal in the 200m making her the USATF National Champion for this event.  She also competed in 100m and earned a 2nd place medal.  Congratulations to Ramiah on her success!  You can watch Ramiah’s 1st place finish by following this link: 9-10 Girls 200m Finals

Lynna Irby (15-16 Girl) also won two 2nd place medals in the 100m & 200m.  Congratulations to Lynna on her success!  

AAU Junior Olympics have just begun this week and Indiana Storm athlete Anna Ramsey is competing there.  She has qualified for the 15-16 Girls 800m and we wish her luck in the finals!

Updates for July-12-13

Congratulations to all our athletes who are headed to Regional competition this weekend!  The meet is being held at King Track & Field Stadium at Huntington University in Huntington, IN.  The schedule of events for this meet can be found here:  REGIONAL SCHEDULE  Please note, they have adjusted the Sunday schedule start time. A caravan will leave from McDonald’s in Fishers at I-69 and 116th Street at 7am.  Saturday arrival time for athletes is 9:30am.  The address to Huntington University is 2303 College Ave., Huntington, IN 46750. 

Directions to the school from the South: From Indianapolis, take I-69 north. At Exit 278 (Warren exit; Old Exit 78) take State Route 5 north to Huntington, Indiana. Go straight through light at the corner of SR 5 and Hwy 224. Continue north to US 24, a double-lane highway at the top of a hill. Turn left (west) and continue on US 24 until you reach the stop light at Guilford Street. Turn left. The main campus entrance will be on your left.  A campus map is attached for your convenience CAMPUS MAP

The team hotel is Homewood Suites in Ft. Wayne, IN.  The hotel address is 8621 US Hwy 24 West, Ft. Wayne, IN  46804.

Coach Pat Chavis is the Lead Volunteer Coordinator for the Regional meet.  If you are interested in volunteering during the Regional meet the following shifts are available:

July 12th, Saturday   8:00am-12:00pm and 11:30am-end (est. 4:00 pm)

July 13th. Sunday     7:00am-11:30am and 11:30am-end (est. 4:00 pm)

Per Coach Pat, lunch will be provided for all volunteers on Saturday and Sunday.  If you would like to volunteer please sign up at practice Thursday evening indicating which shift you will volunteer for.  The sign-up sheet will be located on the picnic table on your way into practice.

If your athlete qualifies for USATF Junior Olympic’s and you intend on traveling to Houston, TX the schedule for the Junior Olympics can be found here:  USATF JO SCHEDULE  The team hotel is the Double Tree Houston Intercontinental Airport. We look forward to a great meet in Bloomington, IN this week!  The schedule for this meet can be found here: YOUTH NATIONALS SCHEDULE.  The IU Bloomington Track address is 1601 N. Fee Lane, Bloomington, IN 47408.  Please note they do not allow tents or umbrellas in the stands.  The facility info is located at this link: FACILITY INFO.  For those who will not be attending the meet you can cheer on your Indiana Storm athletes by watching them compete live via the following link: USATF TV YOUTH CHAMPIONSHIPS.  Thursday an Indiana Storm coach will be at the entry gate with bibs for the 800m athletes at 7:45am.  Coach Vinson has asked that athletes report by the following times:

  • 800m Thursday at 7:45am
  • 200m Thursday at 10:00am
  • 100m Friday at 7:00am
  • 400m Friday at 11:00am

Remember for those partaking in the team dinner we will meet in the Holiday Inn Express Banquet room at the Team Hotel located at 117 S. Franklin Road on Friday evening at 6:30pm.

If you email, you will need to state the following:

JUNE PRACTICE AND UPDATES


Welcome to all the High School and New Storm athletes!!  Below is important information about upcoming dates.  
 
  • JUNE 14 Noblesville Meet Tonight is the deadline for entering!! If you have not signed the sign up sheet at practice, and you wish to sign your athlete up for the June 14th meet you must text Coach Michael this evening.  In addition, tomorrow is the last day for payment for this meet.   
  • Youth Championship Meet Sign-up: Please be sure to sign up at practice tomorrow if you wish to run in the Youth Championship Meet In Bloomington, IN.  If you have not yet paid for this meet you will need to do so no later than Saturday.  To find out the cost for your athlete you will need to see Coach Michael.
  • Hotel Blocks and Deadlines: We currently have hotel rooms available to book for the USATF Regional Meet in Huntington, IN (July 12-13).  Below is the links to book.  Please note the deadline to book for Homewood Suites is June 23rd!  The booking details are also on our team website on the Team Hotel & Travel Page.  Please note, if you book a room and decide to cancel later, you must give a 72 hour cancellation notice to the hotel.  If you have hotel questions, please email indystormtrack@gmail.com
  • Junior Olympics Team Hotel:  Booking for our block for Junior Olympics will be done a little differently this year due.  However, we do have a team block available for this meet with a negotiated rate of $99/night.  We will begin to distribute this information during the State Meet June 21-22.

Youth Speed Camp Information

Youth Speed Camp Facilitated by Sports by Mike

Youth Speed Camp Flyer

Sports by Mike are run by Michael Vinson, Ben Davis High School Sprint Coach for the Track Team and Head Coach of the Indiana Storm Track Club.  Coach Vinson has experience coaching athletes in a variety of sports including baseball, basketball, and a specialty in coaching track.

Cost is $25 for 3 sessions

The Youth Speed Camp will focus on: speed drills, proper running form, technique, and abdominal exercises, all of which will help with speed and strength needed for a variety of sports.  Ages 8-11 are welcome to attend.
